1. Summer Break!

School’s out (and so is actively trolling the internet)!

jacklight productions / blog is going on hiatus for the time being. Don’t be sad, we’ll be back by Autumn… hopefully. There could be some occasional posts during the summer, but I can’t make any promises. Please feel free to take a look at our Archives for some cool posts and videos.

And if you’d like to continue following me, my door is always open over at THINKING JAIL. I’d be happy to have you.

So H.A.G.S. to you, and don’t forget to apply sunscreen.

  2. Biodegradable Mortuary Urns

Spanish designer Martín Azúa has created the “Bios Urn”, a biodegradable mortuary urn that combines human remains with tree seeds.

“Bios is a mortuary urn made from biodegradable materials: coconut shell, compacted peat and cellulose. Inside it contains the seed of a tree. Once the urn is planted, the seed germinates and begins to grow. The seed can be changed for a different type of seed or plant more adequate to the chosen planting place, if need be.”

This isn’t just some theoretical concept. The “Bios Urn” is for sale. Here.

  3. Greatest Movie Sandwiches (Video)

So the great people of Handsome Donkey have compiled together some of cinema’s greatest sandwiches. My only complaint is that the clip is too short and it made me really really hungry. Wait, those might be compliments. Well done!

  7. 2D Glasses

So these exist. Its an fun gimmick, and an interesting option if you want to watch a movie that’s only playing in 3D (though I don’t think there’s any movie out there worth all the trouble). But we live in a world where this is possible so why not?

  8. iPhone Skin Featuring Steve Jobs Frozen In Carbonite?

“Nah dogz!” according Apple. Who ordered a cease and desist on website Society6 and artist Greg Koening. The novelty skin was selling for $35, but Koening immediately took it down and apologized to the fans (all 5 of you man-children who were willing to enjoy the gimmick of Jobs’ appendages poking you in your pockets).

Its hard to believe that Koening couldn’t have saw this coming, given that Apple isn’t necessarily known for taking jokes too well. Getting extra hits on your site for creating something provocative-yet-playful is one thing, but trying to make a profit off of it was asking for too much.

  9. Big Wheels in San Francisco

Any able-bodied man or woman with a plastic kids bike was welcome to take part in the event (so as long as they sign a waiver). Over 2,000 people were in attendance this year. Looks like pure fun!

  10. DIY Gatling Gun Slingshot

Joerg Sprave creates homemade weaponry, mostly involving variants of slingshots. Also, his voice resembles Rainier Wolfcastle from The Simpsons, which is both pleasantly familiar and slightly terrifying. In this clip, he demonstrates a Full-Auto Gatling Gun Slingshot. As fun as it may look, in theory, this weapon could manage to take out only a handful of zombies. I’m sure the other hundreds of undead surrounding you will admire the craftsmanship of your homemade weapon though.

    Also, Machete Crossbow…
